Medicine Hat Integrated Intelligence Unit (MHIIU)

The Criminal Intelligence Section is an integral part of the Medicine Hat Police Service as it provides direct assistance to the operational objectives of the department and provides assistance to outside agencies. The Section consists of the 5 intelligence investigators. There is one sergeant, four constables, and one civilian analyst.

MHIIU provides direct assistance in the operational and investigative objectives of the MHPS and other law enforcement agencies particularly around the aspects surrounding all individuals and groups involved in organized criminal activity.  The investigators duties include collecting, collating, analyzing and disseminating the intelligence from various sources of criminal activity. The investigators achieve this by working as a Probe Team.  The intelligence Unit identifies criminal groups and provides target packages, strategic/tactical threat assessments and target group profiles. These packages are then handed over to Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) for target enforcement activities.

The Investigation Unit works with other intelligence sections, sharing and maintaining information on these large groups. MHIIU contributes intelligence to the provincial bureau of the Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta (CISA) on matters related to Organized crime.
