Motor Vehicle Collisioon
On January 11, 2018, at about 8:09 am the Medicine Hat Police, along with other emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway, just east of Redcliff.
A 2 door Acura Type S car was heading east on the Trans Canada making the curve by Costco when the back end slid out due to the icy roads. The driver lost control, entered the ditch and struck a street lamp.
The 16 year old male driver along with his two male passengers suffered only minor injuries. The damage to the car was extensive.
Alcohol was not a factor, and no charges are being laid against the driver.
Furthermore, while emergency workers were on scene of the collision, a vehicle was stopped after it was identified as speeding through the scene. Subsequently, a 20 year old motorist has been charged with speeding.
Police would like to remind motorists that the road conditions can change quickly and what can look like clear/dry roads can be unexpectedly icy. Please drive with extra caution and slow to a maximum of 60km/hr when passing emergency vehicles.
