Male Charged with Robbery

On September 18th 2017, an adult male was approached by another adult male, who was known to him, in a parking lot near 5th Street and South Railway Street SE.  The approaching male struck the victim several times and stole his cell phone.  The victim then chased the attacker into the downtown core and asked a bystander to call police.

Police responded and identified a male matching the description of the suspect. When the police officer attempted to make an arrest, the suspect fled on foot but was located and arrested inside a downtown building. The suspect had a carpet knife in his possession, which he threw as he was being pursued by police.

Resulting from this investigation, Gil Scott, 47 years of age, of Medicine Hat, AB has been charged with; Robbery, Possess Stolen Property, and Possession of a Weapon.  Scott is currently held in custody and will appear in court September 26, 2017.
