Bomb Threat

On November 9th, 2017 at 2:07 PM the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) received a report of a bomb threat from an employee working at bank located in the zero hundred block of 8 Street NW, Medicine Hat.

As a precaution, the bank was evacuated, and the surrounding area was cleared.  It was later determined to be an unsubstantiated threat.  The MHPS are treating this as a hoax, the fourth to occur in this area since October 27, 2017.

While investigators are looking at each case independently, it is suspected that the same person(s) may be responsible all four incidents. The latest threat appears to have been made from an off-site location.

Members of the Priority Street Crimes Unit are investigating all four occurrences. Further information regarding a potential suspect(s) will be released once the information has been corroborated.

Anyone with information is asked to call the MHPS at 403-529-8481 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
