Drug related offences
The Medicine Hat Police Service continues to see a rise in firearms seizures in drug related investigations. The most recent incident occurred on March 16, 2017, when members of the MHPS ALERT Organized Crime Team arrested six Medicine Hat residents for drug related offences during a drug raid on a Dominion Street address.
The Organized Crime Team searched a residence in the 1100 block of Dominion Street on the evening of March 16th, and a vehicle associated to the address. A loaded shotgun, ammunition, and body armour, along with approximately $4000 worth of methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and drug money was seized. As a result, six Medicine Hat residents are facing numerous drug, criminal code, and weapons charges.
One of the alleged accused has been released from custody for a court appearance for April 26, 2017 while another five suspects remain in Police custody awaiting a bail hearing. Names of the accused will be released after the conclusion of the Judicial Interim Release hearing.
