Two Medicine Hat Residents Facing Several Charges in Connection to Drugs & Firearms
On February 23, 2017 members of the Medicine Hat Police Service Priority Street Crimes Unit received information about illegal drugs and guns and subsequently executed three search warrants on a residence located in the 2200 block of Southview Dr SE and also on a storage container.
Police seized; two SKS semiautomatic rifles, one pump action shotgun, one prohibited drum magazine, ammunition, stolen property, 57 grams of Psilocybin (mushrooms) 5.8 grams of Marihuana and $14,070 cash.
Sean Sterling Engel, age 27 years old, of Medicine Hat faces 12 charges including: Extortion, Breaking and Entering to Steal a Firearm, Utter Threats, Possess Proceeds of Crime, Possess Psilocybin, Possess Marihuana, Possess Weapon Contrary to Order, Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public, Unlawful Storage of a Firearm and Possess Prohibited Device.
Tameka Marian Hazelaar, age 22 years old, of Medicine Hat faces 9 charges including: Possess Proceeds of Crime, Possess Psilocybin, Possess Marihuana, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possess Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Careless Storage of Firearm, Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000, Possess Firearm Obtained by Offence and Possess Prohibited Device.
Engel made his first court appearance on February 28, 2017 and has been held in custody to re-appear in court on March 7th, 2017.
Hazelaar had her bail hearing on February 24, 2017, and was released on a no cash recognizance to re-appear in court on March 1, 2017.
